Liverpool has completed the signing of Ben Davies from Preston. They are also about to loan Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04 on the deadline day. Both players are due to undergo their medical later today.

Here in our article last week we mentioned the need for Liverpool to sign another center-back:- https://footballfnatic.com/why-is-it-necessary-for-klopp-to-sign-a-center-back-before-the-transfer-window-shuts/

Liverpool’s current injury crisis

Liverpool has finally decided to reinforce at the back given the current injury they are facing. All 3 senior center backs of Liverpool injured at the moment. Joe Gomez looks to be out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury. Van Dijk was injured earlier this season and set out to miss the remainder of the season. This left injury-prone Joel Matip as their only senior center-back who injured his ankle ligament in Red’s win over Spurs last week.

Jordan Henderson, Rhys Williams, and Nat Phillips are the only available players left in the first team squad capable of playing at the back. Liverpool in the last few months had to rely on Fabinho and Henderson to pair up at the back. They were arguably the two best midfielders in the team last season. At this moment Liverpool is 21 points behind last year when they won the league. Defensive issues have certainly compounded Liverpool’s lackluster form in the league. These two signings will fill a massive hole caused due to injures to Liverpool’s senior center backs this season.

Ben Davies from Preston North End completed his medial yesterday

Davies came through the youth system at Preston and spent a total of 15 years at the club, making 144 senior appearances.

These two signings provide a big relief to the Reds fans who have been expecting a signing since Lovren’s departure last summer. Reds have confirmed the signing of Ben Davies from Preston North-end for a fee of 1.6 million pounds. The transfer was ideal for Preston, who would have lost him at end of the season due to contract expiration. Ben Davies in his interview said that he is “excited to play for the best team in the world”.He also described himself as a player who “moves the ball forward instead of passing it around”.

Celtic were bookies favorites to sign him at the end of the contract and Liverpool has swooped in with a gamble by signing a player with no experience at the top-flight level.

Liverpool loan Ozan Kabak for the remainder of the season.

Ozan Kabak is a proven talent with plenty of top-flight experience in the Bundesliga. He is set to complete his medical tomorrow as he arrives at Merseyside today. Ozan Kabak is a strong and athletic center-back who can put out an aggressive tackle on the field. This loan deal is more likely to provide cover for the injured senior center backs for this season. The club could trigger the option to buy-in at the end of the season if they feel the player can be a valuable addition to the squad.

The Reds are back on winning ways in last few games with wins over Tottenham and West Ham. If Klopp manages to sign these two players before the window closes, then Liverpool do have a serious chance to catchup to the runaway leaders Man City.
